Marbles - an Interpretation of a Classical Sculpture

April 13, 2012

Marbles is a video installation by Dan Scofield , Oya Kosebay, Zaquerie McCollum using glass marbles to trace the silhouette of David by Michelangelo.

We wanted to play with the idea of an iconic sculpture that is traced with an unexpected material. The installation consist of laser cut plexiglass pieces creating a path for the marbles to roll on a mirror surface. The video piece starts with close shots of the marbles traveling , at the beginning you don't understand what is going on until the silhouette of the David starts to get visible to the eye.

The actual installation of the video piece would be projected on the actual cut plexiglass artifact but it hasn't been implemented yet.
